Who is responsible for your data?

Me, Sam, the person behind heysamtheman.com and @hey_samtheman. For anything about your data, write to hey@heysamtheman.com.

What is measured when you visit?

The site uses Umami (umami.is), a privacy-friendly analytics tool. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It counts pages viewed, the site you came from, your country, browser, device type and screen size, in aggregate. Your IP address is not stored and you are not identified or followed from one site to another.

On top of page views, a few anonymous clicks are counted so I know what works with brands: opening the partner page, clicking my email address, sending the contact form, leaving for Instagram or another site, and reaching the end of a blog post.

Legal basis: my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used. This kind of cookieless, anonymous measurement is exempt from consent under the French CNIL's rules, which is why there is no cookie banner. You can still block it with any content blocker; the site works the same.

What happens when you use the contact form?

The form sends your name, brand (optional), email and message to a small Google Apps Script running in my own Google account, which forwards it to my Gmail inbox as an email. Nothing is saved in a database or a spreadsheet.

Legal basis: the steps you ask me to take by writing to me, and my legitimate interest in answering. Google processes the email as my mail provider.

Does the site store anything in your browser?

Only one thing: if you tap a reaction on My life dreams, your browser remembers which ones you tapped (local storage), so you can't tap twice. It never leaves your device. Clear your browser data and it's gone.

Who hosts the site?

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web server, GitHub may log technical data such as your IP address for security. Fonts are served from this site, not from Google Fonts.

Links to Instagram, YouTube and Ko-fi are plain links. Nothing from those platforms loads on this site. Once you click through, their own privacy policies apply.

What are your rights?

You can ask me to access, correct or delete your data, or object to how it is used. Email hey@heysamtheman.com and I'll answer within a month. If you're not happy with the answer, you can complain to the CNIL or the data protection authority where you live.
